Equipment

Tools
  1. sharp knife: for cutting soft or thin stems
  2. secateurs: for thicker stems and branches
  3. wire cutters
  4. sharp scissors
  5. pail
Mechanics
  1. floral foam (Oasis): when saturated with water is used to anchor stems.
  2. pin holders: to hold flower stems erect. Consisting of a heavy base and sharp, upright metal pins, stems are held on or between the pins. Pin holders are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes and should be chosen to suit the thickness of the stems being used.
  3. wire (tape-wrapped, painted or bare): used to support, replace or shape stems.
  4. water tubes: for adding short-stemmed flowers such as orchids.
  5. vases and containers: limited only by the imagination. Anything that will hold water or saturated floral foam, and suits the design of the arrangement can be used.
